Gas prices fell 0.1 cent. National average is $3.089 a gallon, as information services say nowadays. Week ago the price was about 2.3 cents higher and now it is almost 14 cents below the record price, which was reached in May this year and it was $3.227 a gallon. Thanksgiving is not only feast coming soon. Christmas time is getting closer. So what you spare on the gasoline, you can put in the gifts for your family relatives, friends or invest the money into something just for your own pleasure. The decline of the price could be explained by the import of the crude supplies. Import of the gasoline rose to 11 percent. The demand for gasoline seems to decrease, or at least stagnate. Might be caused by the increasing prices or new lifestyle of ecologically based people pursuing world on natural base. Hopefully, the price of the gas won't reach the $100 a barrel. Otherwise the prices of heating would grow as well. Specialists forecast 22 percent increase of the costs for heating oil costumers this winter. After hitting a new record of $2.7154 a gallon, heating oil features fell 0.27 cent and now the price is $2.6874 a gallon. Our society should maybe prepare for using alternative energy springs. Next Thanksgiving holiday you may drive a car with solar panels on the roof.

Chris Cantell annouces Unemployment rate low by 4.7

In spite of the lowering U.S. dollar, rising prices of fuel and recent collapse in housing business, the national civilian unemployment rate is still considered low, as by the new research of U.S. Department of Labor. The White House based the new report on the employment activity. Last weeks` statistics of the layoffs applications only approved its results. The number of people who have requested jobless benefits declined. The USA has still the largest and most technologically powerful economy in the world, which is characterized by having a high output along with low inflation and unemployment rates. However, the economies of all 50 states vary widely. California is the largest and most prosperous state and tops the league in terms of gross state product, but as a matter of fact one of its metropolitan areas, El Centro, shows the highest unemployment rate in the country. (20.8, adjusted Sept.2007, U.S. Department of Labor) The area with the lowest unemployment of 1.3 is now Idaho Falls, ID. It looks like nothing can really shake the fact that the Americans are a working nation, a land of opportunity waiting around every corner. Some statistics connected to the U.S. employment environment can be, thus, surprising. According to U.S. Department of Labor, more than half of the population 16 years and over works full time. Blacks and Hispanics are less likely than are whites and Asians to be employed in management and professional occupations or that the earnings of blacks and Hispanics are lower than those of Asians and whites. Finally, the prejudices against the woman in labor force seem to enhance. Women's labor force participation patterns are now more like those of men and their earnings have increased substantially as men's.

Chris Cantell annouces Social Babies

We are not only smart since the day we are born, but also we have very good skills in social judgments. According to a study by researchers at Yale University's Infant Cognition Center published in Thursday's journal Nature carried on babies between 6 and 10 months crucial social skills appear early in our life and is no longer a matter of experience. The study implied babies watching a googly-eyed wooden toy trying to climb roller-coaster hills and then another googly-eyed toy come by and either help it over the mountain or push it backward. Afterwards they had to choose from the two toys the one they wanted to play with. Almost all the infants chose the helpful one over the naughty one. Moreover, when neutral toys were introduced, they still chose the helpful ones and then the neutral. Kiley Hamlin, a Yale psychology researcher who led the study, stated that there was no difference in reaction between genders. However, there was a change when the eye was taken from the toy, the babies did not show anymore the same social judging. Despite the fact that another study performed in Germany comes in her support showing that babies as young as 18 months old overwhelmingly helped out when they could, such as by picking up toys that researchers dropped, David Lewkowicz, a psychology professor at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton crumbled the theory and said that babies acquire a great deal of social experience between birth and 6 months of age thus it is normal to show such judgments. He persists in saying that the behavior was learned, acquired through experience and it's absurd to think otherwise. Finally, who knows where the truth lies? It's important that we both cultivate the social skills and have them from the day we are birth, so we can improve them by experience. Enjoy!

When we were little kids our moms always said to us that we have to eat enough to be strong and big. And we did. They wanted the best for us and they gave us the best they had. Few years ago the fruit and vegetable was grown naturally in farms somewhere in the countryside. You could eat almost everything without cleaning it. It was safe. Today when most of the vegetable and fruit is somehow modified, with biocides or genetically, it is not very safe to eat it like that. But fruit and vegetable is not the only thing. Almost everything is modified. In many kinds of food you can find substances which make the food fresher much longer. It lasts longer and tastes better. But it is a poison. Not in this small amounts, but still is. So what to do when you want to eat really healthy? Probably you can not avoid eating unhealthy food, but at least you can eat nutrition rich food. Every day you should have whole grain and wheat meals. Oils made from plants, don't forget about fruit and vegetable. Also very important is to eat fish, poultry, eggs and nuts. And always drink enough water. This is not going to make you live forever, but maybe a little bit longer.

Reading books via electronic devices is the challenge that Internet book publishers try to put in practice for years. Anyhow people seem kind of old fashioned when it comes to reading books. Paperbacks are still in, have a value that electronic devices didn't win yet. But all the efforts continuously push to develop new ways how to bring books closer to people without big and heavy components uncomfortably taken with them into the buses or subways while they have enough time for going through some chapters. Amazon seems to bring something new this week. The Kindle is an electronic device enables you to read e-books, magazines, newspapers and blogs just from the small screen in your hand. Usually when I commute to school or to work or I am just using public transportation I am watching what people do. Sometimes it is funny how people look or act during boring sitting in the tram. Some of them are only looking to nowhere, some are eating their breakfast that they missed, some are permanently on the phone, some are making faces or laughing, some are reading. I am always amazed by people who are able to read in buses. It seems as great opportunity how to derive benefit from time that you cannot use for anything you like. I would like to read in the bus too. But books seem too heavy and big and it is not very comfortable to turn the pages while a lot of people are pushing you or staring at you. But if I had small device, something like palm computer or cell phone, that would provide me easy way how to pass the story, I would be happy not to waste my time by looking though the window at the streets and places I see everyday. I am sure the Kindle is not perfect and has some beauty deficiency, but technologies are developing quicker then we think and the idea appears great to me!

Thank you Lord for technology!?

I love technology and the Internet. I really like the way I can communicate with my friends and family & promptly, easily and comfortably. I can write to my godmother living in London, talk to my friends from Finland and Australia, I can be watching videos or looking at photos of my friends and talk to them about their last holidays in Peru at the same time. I can also communicate with my professors and send them all materials and essays they want. I can watch movies and also reviews on them, I can listen to music or even write to my favorite band or singer. Internet let me even check my bank account and make various kinds of transactions. And now I can administrate it without going to the bank branch! Do you also hate hours of waiting in your bank branch till you get on turn? Actually I don't but I know there are some people who hate it and their time is too precious. So for those there is a good solution & Remote Deposit Capture. You just can sit at home, drinking tea or eating, and all you have to do is to scan the check you need to pay. CheckFree Corp. is provider of online banking service which enables to scan checks through user's computer and deposit them electronically, so the owner of the bank account doesn't even have to move. Although this service has been used for several years it was used mainly for business manners but common user has no possibility for using it too. This time this technology will be for everyone. Rod Springhetti, CheckFree's vice president of global strategic marketing said this service was requested by customers and that's why their bank offers that. He added this service should be available at the beginning of this week and every user will be able to use it of course only in that case their bank provides this service. Some analysts are not so optimistic; Bob Meara says that it is not so sure that banks will follow CheckFree's step because there is no reliability that consumers will pay adequate attention to this kind of service. Celent, the research firm claimed there is about 20 percent of banks which use this technology also for consumers or plan to use it and another 20 percent are still considering it. Well technology is great, but don't we to come it a bit strong?

Oh that weather!

Last time I was writing about the weather's influence on policy in the US and the results of primaries, and this time will be weather the hero of my blog again. I have still the same opinion that nature is not good to trifle with. It is so strong it can destroy the biggest city in the world or colossal warship; it can demolish the biggest forest areas or even kill. So what is then human's technology in comparison with nature and its power? Nature plays with us and has no problem with late delivery of Columbus, European lab, to the space station. As forecasts say there is a big chance of about 70 percent that bad weather which hits the US in form of strong rain, snow and thunderstorms could disallow to Atlantis to make a move for some other days. Although Atlantis had problems with fuel gauges in December, engineers were trying to fix it and so enable shuttle to launch as was planned & on next Thursday. NASA Management claimed they are not going to think about canceling this launch before the Thursday's morning, if they will be thinking about it at all. Atlantis is waiting for its launch for more than two months and is prepared with its 7 member's crew to install high-tech laboratory Columbus which cost $2 billion and was designed to being a part of the ISS (International Space Station). Columbus was constructed in Europe and flown to Florida and is designed for 10 years operations. This 4.5 meters wide and 7 meters long laboratory will join another U.S lab Destiny which is already flying for 7 years. Atlantis has one other mission & to drop off not only new lab but also a new resident of space station & general of French Air Force who will get Columbus working. NASA is very anxious to fulfill this mission and I am also very curious how this space mission end up.
