Mixed European stocks

The situation on the economic market all over the world is very interesting. Every day we get news from several markets, which are, these days confusing enough. Once European shares increase, than US stock market decrease and Asian economist are afraid of the situation with US home loan market. What the situation looks like now? Let's see. Yesterday was a successful day for European stock market, as it has recovered from early losses, when on Asian market appeared fears that US economy will decrease, and Asians sell off. According to dealers, Asian economist needed top take some profit from the last week pickup, which was the reason why European sellers encouraged, at the opening. This was a successful operation, but there is still a need of reassurance on the markets, mainly after the scandalous fraud in Societe Generale in France, that caused sharp downfall of Paris stocks. Despite the fact, positive showing on Wall Street helped to recover the markets which regained some of the lost ground. Furthermore, investors were curious, what the president of US, George W. Bush, would say on Monday evening, after the agreement on the conditions of an economic stimulus package, made by representatives of white House and Congress. Asian dealers approved investors were looking for some kind of safety, which they have found mainly in bonds and gold, which reached a peak of approximately $927 in London. One trader from London said: "Recent volatility continues with worries over US recession weighing (on sentiment)."

- 24. augusta. V Pekingu sú už skoro hotoví so všetkými prípravami. Postavili mnoho nových štadiónov a ďalších športovísk.

A latest feature in recruitment - paid job interviews

Yes, it is exactly as it is written. We can all forget tireless begging for a job interview. Instead, you will be paid for being interviewed and in addition to this, you will set the price. NotchUp.com has conceived a novel idea. It has proposed the way of luring the most appropriate, talented, experienced and satisfied applicants. Consequently, if the applicants become employed they are afterwards called "passive job seekers." According to Jim Ambras and Rob Ellis, the founders of NotchUp.com, this excellent method will fill in all the monetary gaps that are common results of a new hire's salary charged by recruiters and those who accumulate all probable resumes. Thus, the company saves time and money, the applicant gets paid, so everybody wins. What more can be expected than this happy-ending? Now, how to get your own price? It is quite simple and easy to do. You write down all information like the industry, job, pay, experience, etc. (setting up a profile is really easy), and you put it into calculator on the NotchUp web site. NotchUp gives advice to set a range between $200 and $500. Afterwards, you just submit your profile and you are ready to go! The companies which follow this method are Google Inc., Yahoo Inc. and Facebook. NotchUp started its DEMO startup on Monday in Palm Desert. Since that, the amount of responses of possible seekers is significantly high. In spite of being password-protected, it begun from 445 and ended in 10,500 members in 5 days till Friday. As Ambras said, "In every job I've had, I've had to, under time pressure, build a team of engineers. I learned years ago that the best people you want to hire are the people who aren't in the job market."

Gasoline under $3, let's celebrate!

Myriad of people in US have enjoyed cheerful news. The gasoline retail price is under $3 for the first time in 5 weeks period. Let's celebrate then! Invite your friends, bring some alcohol and all the party supplies. Party hard, have fun, this price is worth it. And when all your friends are gone, when all the mess is finally cleaned up, when the awful hangover is gone, just sit down and try to think a little bit. Do you think this price is permanent? Or do you even think it will keep on decreasing? In the deep of your heart you still hope $1 era will be back some day? Come on! Have you heard about redeemable sources of energy? The bad news is, the crude oil needed in gasoline production is not one of these resources. It's unredeemable, meaning that more you are exploiting today, less you can exploit tomorrow, because the whole amount that's available is given by nature. Once it's gone, it's gone for good. Even though this day apparently won't come tomorrow or next week, someday it will . And you can either do nothing, or just prepare yourself for a slow, but a constant change. Do you need gasoline to fuel your car? Sell it then and get yourself a bike! Or if you are a genius, discover how to fuel your vehicle by energy of sun/wind/something we have plenty of and it's effective and available for everyone as well.

One world One dream

This is the slogan of the 29th Olympics Games 2008. This year the organizing country is China, exactly Chinese city Beijing. Chinese people can't wait to this August when everything starts. The Games will last 16 days, from August 8 to August 24. In Beijing, they are almost ready with all the preparations. They built many sport stadiums and places for this. Only in Beijing there are 31 Olympic venues. One of the most famous is Beijing National Stadium. I'm sure that you have already heard about this building. It's huge sport stadium, which looks like a bird nest from outside. It has very special construction and it took 4 years to build it. It has also a huge seating capacity, about 80000 seats. The opening and closing ceremony will be held there. After opening ceremony it will be place for soccer games and athletics. They are planning to use this stadium after the Games for sports and cultural activities. Another special building, built exactly for these Games is Watercube & swimming pool. From outside it looks like a huge cube full of bubbles. At the top of the building is Teflon-like material, so this allows the building to breathe. After the Games, they want to rebuild it for shopping, sport and culture center. Beijing has already mascots & the Fuwa. Fuwa literally means Good luck dolls. Every one represents something else. They are: fish, fire, panda, Tibetan antelope and swallow. They have something in common with Chinese elements, but only roughly. So this summer belongs to China. I hope they will have great Games and show us that it's not about winning, but about people being together and happy.

Like a star

Many Hollywood movies have something in common with space. Aliens, space ships or dangerous space objects. In Armageddon it was a huge asteroid, which they were able to destroy before it could destroy anything on Earth. In Deep Impact the asteroid landed on Earth and caused big flood and killed many people. As you can see it's usually an asteroid. Today one of these is coming close to the Earth. This one isn't dangerous; it won't be close enough to hit the planet. Thank God. But it will be close enough to be watchable with medium size telescope. Next time you can see asteroid big like this one in 2027, so don't hesitate. For you to know what you are going to see: asteroid is a kind of astronomical object, which can be composed from carbonaceous, silicaceous or metallic. The name "asteroid" comes from Greek word and it means star-like. You can also hear the names minor planet or planetoids. In our solar system there are millions of them that orbit around the Sun. They can orbit alone or in groups or like a family of asteroids. Groups are looser as families, which can be result of one damaged parent asteroid. If you want an easy explanation, asteroid is a big flying piece of stone looking substance. First discovered asteroid is called Ceres and it's the biggest one we know so far. It's so big that it's even classified as dwarf planet. Every month are discovered about 5000 asteroids. Not all of these have names, only few of those which can be visible have one, the others have only numbers.

The greatest fraud performed for no reason

Humans tend to behave after a strange manner time to time. As it is accustomed, everything we do is an action for a reason. Despite this generally known and accepted fact, there are always some exceptions. Just like in a recently investigated case in France. A trader of Societe Generale, one of the leading financial service groups in the euro zone, is accused of losing 4.9 billion Euros ($7.2 billion) through unauthorized dealing. The biggest-ever trading fraud by a single person is still being investigated, but so far some detected facts are staggering. The act of Jerome Kerviel began when he set up positions in futures linked to European stock indexes and then hedged them with fictitious trades. The entire fraud can have been performed as he hacked into computers and faked e-mails and documents to hide his trades as well as he exploited other weaknesses in controls. He took only four days off last August and postponed a vacation at the end of the year, Societe Generale said. Banks often make trading staff take time off so any concealed positions will become evident in their absence. The issue is deemed a proof of a clear fault in the bank's control systems and a need of tighter regulation of the state too, as both the bank officials and the president Sarkozy acknowledged. However, there is also another striking aspect of the case - the reason of Kerviel's step. As claimed by bank's CEO: "we don't know, we don't understand what drove him to do it." Kerviel's motivations are still quite unclear and therefore the event is a massive shock for the Societe Generale. In fact, the defendant didn't steal anything, take anything, he didn't take any profit for himself. Rather reserved and considerate Kerviel used to be a successful and hardworking employee and as his lawyer said the trader made profits for the bank through 2007 and took risky positions like all traders. Our actions don't need to be done for a reason. Sometimes we behave somehow subconsciously, we simply want to achieve some position. Just like Kerviel, we need to prove our ability to reach a
particular target or to show how efficient our work can be performed. This case unveiled our every-day behavior. It is just a common move accomplished in an extreme way.

Open-source software at schools

A new report including 14 countries brought in a new very compelling issue that educational institutions are going to spend more money on open-source software. According to market research company Datamonitor, it is estimated that basic and secondary schools are going to spend together on open-source software cca US$489.9 million by 2012. This task is mainly the matter of interviews with retailers and school officials in the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Germany, Australia, India, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Italy. The expenditures include many essential parts of getting familiar with the software and the management systems, training and learning. Even though, there is significant enlargement in the interest in the open-source software, it is predicted that by the end of 2012 it will stagnate. Those institutions that are open-minded to this investment expect a proper return and as they are aware of the fact that the licenses are for free, the up-keeping and support might equal the price of the proprietor programs. There are several reasons of choosing the open-source software, such as economical and strategic reason as well as philosophical refusing any encouragement of commercial companies. Another option is determined by the recent dissatisfaction of schools with Blackboard, a major provider of enterprise educational software and services. The rest is keen on due to the rise in government interest. Blackboard's market share is about 70 percent including the requisition of an educational company WebCT for $180 million in 2005. But this company is appealing for those with smaller budget that are not able to finance developers to create their own open-source applications. As Justin Davidson, associate analyst at Datamonitor, said "It's not the death of proprietary software." It is all in the hands of proper and friendly cooperation.

The pink BlackBerry Pearl - a magic between handsets

TORONTO (Reuters) - A new handset competitor to Apple's iPhones, the Pink BlackBerry Pearl produced by Research In Motion (RIM.TO) (RIMM.O), using technologies of Verizon wireless, a global leader in wireless innovation has appeared into the retail consumer market. The latest version of this smart phone reached the US market in June 2007. Buying Blackberry Pearl, you can use all sort of typical cellphone features like Voice Activated Dialing, speakerphone, and noise and echo cancellation technology for clearer calls, Wireless broadband (EV-DO) connectivity for high-speed data transfers, Bluetooth technologies, camera, media players, allowing customers to manage music, pictures and video between PC and their pink BlackBerry Pearl. The initial prize, allocated in 2006 was around $200 is now lowered by some carriers using long-term contracts, which make them more affordable. RIM established its name by supplying blocky handsets secure sending protected e-mails. While those products were used mostly by lawyers and politicians, the new way of BlackBerry marketing targets mostly teenagers and young people. According to RIM report, more than a third of company subscribers despite of a desirable product, some analysts suggest that BlackBerry spending could be scaled back, if the United States, RIM's biggest market slips into a recession, causing a declaration of growth. These opinions are based on a fact, of decreasing RIM shares more than 15 percent this year. In RIM's co-Chief Executive, Jim Balsillie's belief, there is no real danger, since cellphones are no longer seen as luxury items, people wouldn't part with the BlackBerry so easily. "The cellphone is kind of one of the last things people give up," he noted.

Story About Acacia And Ant

Once upon a time there had been an acacia tree called Acee. She hadn't been really original when it came to her appearance. But she had been beautiful. Acee had had small flowers arranged in clusters and had been full of thorns. She'd been living in Africa in a small acacia community. There had been also a small fellow community of ants. Actually, they had not have their own community, they had been living IN acacias. But they all had been doing well. The ants had been doing their best protecting the acacias. They'd been biting the bad animals trying to eat acacias' leaves. And acacias'd provided their buddies with home and food. Acee'd had her favorite ant & Antee (aka No.1 Biter). But then the dark clouds came. Well, it was not a dark cloud. It was a MAN. The Scientist. He was interested what would happen if there were no animals trying to reach the acacias' leaves. So he divided the community into two. The one part was fenced. The other was not so the other animals were still around. The protected acacias (including poor Acee) did not know what to do. The ants become lazy as there was nobody to bite. Ants (including Antee) were just having fun, using the shelter acacias used to give them times ago. Acee felt abused. She was weak and drained. It was't a good deal anymore. She did not care about Antee and stopped producing the nectar. She was done. But The Man have never realized what he did.

Cantell TV: Russian new launch ramp.

Russian news agencies RIA Novosti and Interfax reported on Wednesday that a second front will be opened. Not to be alarmed, it's all about a new launch site for manned flights that according to First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov will be constructed by 2018.
Until now Russia's space program relied neighboring Kazakhstan, but they decided to make one of their own in the south-east part of the country, at the border with China. It will be in the Amur region, it will be called Vostochny and will be an alternative to the Baikonur base, a Soviet-built facility that Russia now leases from Kazakhstan. They expect for the cosmodrom to be ready for rocket launches of any type by 2016 and for manned flights by 2018. Both Russia and USA have the most active space programs and they have been competition for the first place since the first manned flight. Right behind them is China's Jiuquan Space Centre. The new base will be built on the site of unfinished facility previously known as Svobodny at the settlement of Uglegorsk, which is located in a restricted zone. Two years ago they said they will withdraw all military personnel from Baikonur for relocation to a rocket launching centre at Plesetsk near Arkhangelsk in northern Russia. The action has not yet been fulfilled. Baikonur was rented in 1994 from Kazakhstan for 115 million dollars (91 million euros) annually, and this will continue until 2050 under a new agreement signed in 2004 by President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev. Even if they will withdraw all military personnel from Baikonur, the base still remains under Russian command.
With two launching ramp, will they be stronger than US? More to come…

Cantell TV: Space traveling.

If you love traveling and you have enough of this planet, you can leave. Or if you have someone you can't stand, send him or her away. I'm not kidding. If you have "only" 30 million $, you have no problem, you can see the whole planet from one place. Just make an appointment and they put you or someone else on the list.
But there is a little problem with that list. Only one travel agency can provide you this trip, its American agency Space Adventures. Only provider of transportation is the Russian Space Agency. For those 30 mill.$ they can take you on the board of Soyuz spacecraft to the International Space Station, where you can spend 10 days. Their list is full for the next two years. The first space tourist was Denis Tito, American millionaire and scientist, who spent 7 days in the space on ISS. After him there were few people, but after tragedy of American Columbia spaceship, Russian Agency had to stop it, because their aircrafts were the only available transport for cosmonauts. It was still important to get to ISS, because there are some scientists all the time. You have to train your body to be prepared for the very hard flight, and then for the stay in weightlessness. It's important to pass the tests, without them you are not allowed to travel. I still have this question in my mind: Is it worth it? What can you do in space for 10 days, when you even can't come out? Enjoying the view? All the astronauts, who were in the space before, are telling that looking at the earth from the space is the most beautiful thing they have ever seen.
It must be something about it.

Cantell TV: Win-Win.

Everyone who watches TV, reads newspapers, listens to the radio or just talks to other people and is not blind or absolutely separated from the world all around had to notice that the US economy was having extremely hard time (and the other economics all around the world as well as we live in "connected" world, being influenced by every significant market swing) with people being not able to pay their mortgages, weak dollar and stock market performing inefficiently.
You may know what's happening, though you may not know the reason why it is happening (and unless you are an economist it's really difficult to understand the mysterious system that's being called economy). Maybe you have heard about president Bush's "rescue package" including emergency tax cuts and rebates, unemployment benefits or food stamps. How could be those actions helpful? Who knows? Not me. All I know is that we all have to trust they will work and help to get out of this unfavorable situation and it won't last ages. Well, everyone who watches TV, rads newspapers, listens to the radio or just talks to other people and is not blind or absolutely separated from the world all around had to notice that something really unusual happened. Reps and Democrats are cooperating, trying to find the best solutions together as they both want to rescue American people from suffering.
So considerate. Is that just dream coming true? Wonder? Magic? Miracle? Election Day coming soon?

Cantell TV: Incredible Eee Laptop PC.

Technology goes ahead and breaks all previous rules. So does Asustek Computers Inc. which made brand new laptop and gave it funny name Eee PC.
This new product will not shock us just by its measurements (7 inches) but also by its features & you can use it everywhere and for anything & entertainment or work. Although it is not computer for editing photos or other difficult tasks, as it has only 5-inch screen, who wouldn't be impressed by such lovely and handy invention anyway? This ultra-portable PC should cost $ 400 also brings some sacrifices & keys and also screen may seem too small, but other parameters are great. Eee is very quick; it has its own webcam which has a function of video messaging device. Eee is also equipped by USB ports and its battery can work for 3.5 hours. This little hi-tech toy is prepared to connect you with anyone by using lot of known e-mail programs such as Skype, AOL Instant Messenger, also links to Gmail and Yahoo Mail are working and ready on desktop.
The biggest problem and disadvantage which could discourage people is low-power processor and only 4 gigabytes disk drive. You can double disk space by buying a memory card for around $ 30. Eee is weighing less than 1 kg, it is shock protected, to operate with it you don't need any special abilities, it is very easy & even a child can work with it. As this little notebook is equipped by built-in WiFi system, you can be surfing on the Internet, talking to your family and friends while you are away, sending them holiday photos or videos. You don't have to know how to fly and you can be connected with anyone & doesn't matter where you are! It is as easy as never before! This Eee laptop is just hot innovation but soon a new brand of pocket-computers will come and then we will be surprised!
Nevertheless the man of 21st century will probably never understand how people in the past could wait weeks or months for one short letter.

Cantell TV: The confrontation between U.S. Navy ships and Iranian boats.

The U.S. Navy ships USS Port Royal, USS Hopper, and USS Ingraham were on their way to Persian Gulf, when the incident had happened. The Persian Gulf is the major oil shipping route, where the ships were not supposed to be harmed. It was Sunday early morning, 5 a.m. Local time, when the Iranian boats dropped boxes in the water and warned U.S. Navy ships that they would start an explosion.
Mohammed Ali Hosseini, a Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that it was all a big misunderstanding. The Iranian boats have mistaken the identity of U.S. ships, he said, but he did not want to make any comment on the warning about an explosion. "That is something normal that takes place every now and then for each party, and it (the problem) is settled after identification of the two parties", said for the state news agency IRNA. The Iranian and U.S. Navy officials stated that fortunately there were no injuries, but one more moment and U.S. Navy would start to fire. They were preparing to self defense when suddenly the Iranian boats turned in the opposite directions. The officials do not have the exact copy of the communication between the Iranian boats and the U.S. Navy ships, but they are sure that Iranians radioed a sentence: "we're coming at you and you'll explode in a couple minutes."

Revolving around relationships

It's good to have friends and no few songs had this theme. LinkedIn Corp. co-founder Reid Hoffman, confesses that it has never been something more truthful than this and that is due to the fact that most of his fortune comes from good relationships. His way to success is due to a college friendship who led him to PayPal that was sold in 2002 for $1.5 billion to eBay Inc. He continued to growth his fortune and success throughout investments in other Internet startups he discovered through friends and former colleagues. Using his PayPal experience Hoffman started an online business-networking service that helps professionals like him realize the value of their contacts from the past and present - Linkedln. In it is useful to people who know each other elsewhere more easily meet others who might help their careers. In spite of the fact that it is not so fun like Facebook or other social network, the site doubled its user's number getting to 18 million people that now have profiles on it. Although in 2008 has projected revenue of $75 million to $100 million, Hoffman as LinkedIn's chairman and largest shareholder five years after starting the company said the Mountain View-based company will probably file for an initial public bid if he will not change his mind in the meantime and sell it to one of the buyers that already presented interest in the matter. Former LinkedIn executive Keith Rabois suggests for Hoffman to buy an IPO in order to create a bigger buzz about the service if he wants to reach Facebook with 60 million users and a market value of $ 15 billion. Still, the secret is that Hoffman has a stake in Facebook and he introduced some of its features to Linkedln, allowing LinkedIn users to display pictures next to their personal profiles and to open up the site for outsiders to post mini-applications, known as widgets, designed to help people with common connections to share information. Hoffman rarely misses opportunities and the greatest regret he has is that he hasn't taken the chance to invest in Youtube and lost a lot of money when Google purchase it for $1.76 billion in 2006. Nevertheless, his good eye in building relationships got him YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, who worked with Hoffman at PayPal. There is also a saying that everyone in Silicon Valley is connected to Reid Hoffman. As a conclusion, by using the famous title of a show: It's good to be Reid Hoffman!

Cantell TV: U.S. economic stimulus package.

For the last few weeks there was a sharp fall on global economic market, what caused big pressure on local markets of economy. US financial system, as one of the biggest all over the world, was affected, too. And this is the reason, why there is a need to hurry in accepting economic stimulus package. President George W. Bush in collaboration with top lawyers of the America made an agreement, that in next few weeks they should, unconditionally, authorize new economic package.
"Our definition of 'soon,' obviously, is in the next few weeks," said Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. He also assigned the date to be the week of February 18. The need of accepting economic stimulus package confirmed Bush by the words: "All of us understand that we need to work together.
All of us understand that we need to do something that'll be effective. And all of us understand that now's the time to work together to get a package done." The purpose of this document is not to achieve a recession or increase in the economic indicators, as there was a little slowdown, but anyway it was a slowdown.
"This is a flexible, this is a resilient, this is a dynamic economy, and the entrepreneurial spirit is high. But there is some uncertainty that we're going to have to deal with," said Bush. All the parties believe that they will reach the agreement on this stimulus package, soon.

Missing episodes? In no case!

Have you ever missed episode of your favorite show, because you were longer at work, or there was a traffic jam on your way home? I think this horrible thing happen to everyone, who is a fan of TV and movies. But now, there is a solution for us. There is a long term writers strike in US, actually, that caused that supply of major TV networks decreased during the last months. Even though, these TVs are trying to catch the attention of their viewers online. At the beginning you could see the episodes from ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC only on their own websites. However, these days there is a trend of streaming their episodes on different websites, so you can stumble on your favorite shows nearly anywhere on the Internet. This occurred due to the fact, that number of audience online is rocketing every day and Televisions would like to turn this to good account, certainly. Market research firm Horowitz Associates says, that number of broadband users who watched full shows online weekly doubled in 2007 from 8 to 16 percent, according to the article from USA TODAY, by Mike Snider. By this project TV networks want to improve TV audience commitment. It is dedicated mostly to viewers who missed their episodes, and nevertheless, would like to watch it. The list of top web sites include: Fancast.com, Hulu.com, Joost.com, MeeVee.com, Veoh.com, MySpace.com, Television.AOL.com and definitely tv.yahoo.com.

Cantell TV: Check your suitcase first, you may carry a cat inside!

Sounds unbelievable, but that is a story of Gracie Mae, little cat from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, that has been accidentally packed by her owner, Seth Levy.
The large black Samsonite suitcase with his 10 months old cat inside passed the X-rays control, flew almost four hours on the plane leading to Texas, where it has been grabbed by another rushing passenger by a mistake. When Kelly Levy, a wife of Seth Levy realized that their beloved cat was missing, she searched thorough all the house and spent evening wandering around calling for Gracie Mae.

At that time, Rob Carter opened the suitcase on the bed at his home, Fort Worth, Texas. "I went to unpack and saw some of the clothes and saw it wasn't my suitcase," said Rob adding that he was about to close it, when a kitten jumped out and ran under the bed. He was so shocked that he screamed like a little girl. In the morning he was able to touch scarred Gracie, who spent a night hiding under his bed. " I got close enough to see its collar and the phone number on it," he said. Then he called back the family Levy. According to various U. S. Government Agencies have rules for pet transports, especially the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and units of USDA, requires a health certificate, and a proof of Rabies Vaccination. Gracie breaking all those regulations took a trip in a suitcase by just in front of the eyes of baggage inspectors. After a call from Texas, Gracie was luckily sent back home. In a case, Mr. Carter couldn't find good home for her, he would keep her.
He would give her a new name, simply & Suitcase!

Internet, parents and kids

I had been many times witness of a fight between my father and computer, sometimes it even looked like my father was trying to make a deal with my PC just for a few minutes of cooperation. But I have to admit that my father and also mother are those skilled ones in the work with computers. Though there are still people who are afraid of any kind of technology and they not even can't work with it, but they even don't want to. Many youngsters find it good because they finally have their own turf where it's them who are on the horseback. Kids have their best friends in technology, computers and Internet. These things help them with school, because still more and more information can be found on the web, they entertain them by playing lot of virtual games, downloading movies and music, enable them to communicate with friends and also family when they are not at home but also in some cases enable them to exclude adults from their own world especially when they are not able to communicate with them. Positive is, these days the second wave of technology knowledge is coming. Adults are not only trained in the companies they work for, but there is also higher attention from their side to understand how these machines work and how can be useful for them. I think this interest is connected with fact that life of kids is more connected to internet and technology than to their parents. This fact leads adults to realize that if they want to be closer to their own children and want to understand them, they have to know how to work with computers and use other devices such as mobile phones and so on. However reaction of the youngsters was opposite & they think it is "creepy" when they are talking with friends through MySpace or FaceBook and their parents suddenly appear there too. Kids just don't want their parents to see what they are talking about with friends, what videos they look on YouTube or for which pictures they have on their profiles. After all for the younger kids it is not cool to have mom or dad among their virtual friends. But kids couldn't see probably the most important and major reason of their parent's interest in technology & danger. Although most of youngsters will never accept the fact that Internet is not private social network they know it. Nevertheless most of them are too careless to realize real danger of it. That's why is the knowledge of using it and real using of technology the best way how to protect our children.

CantellTV Presents: How To Become A Hero

This could be an instruction what to do if you would like to be a hero. First of all, you should be young, brave, smart, not afraid to take a dare. You have to keep your eyes open and think little bit faster than all the others do. Do not forget, there is also a dark side of being a hero. Probably it will hurt a lot. You have to be prepared that you can be injured (sorry, but when you are a hero, danger is part of your job). Then you should be at a right place on a right time so you can save something or somebody (hero professionals recommend the second alternative). The best place is a public place crowded with people (the best situation is a crowd without another hero among it). You should pay your attention to the special occasions, people who play an important role in a public life, for example people who are running for president or already are one. Sure, you can save someone who is not well known, it depends on how much you want to be on public. You should choose a country. It is recommended to choose the one that is a little bit turbulent as there is a greater chance that "something" will happen. This can help you a lot when becoming a hero is being a part of Scout Movement. It is not necessary but it could be helpful as the scout training is being aimed at "physical, mental and spiritual development" so the scouts "may play a constructive role in the society" and are always prepared. And than it is just your turn to show the whole world your abilities. This could not be an instruction what to do if you would like to be original. You can ask 15-year old Mohammed Ibrahim (who is a Boy Scout by the way) what it means to be a hero, what it means to stop the man who was trying to assassinate Maldives President Maumoon Gayoom by grabbing his knife. And you can also ask him what it means to get hurt as he was injured and could not move his fingers.

CantellTV Presents: Tornadoes affect our lives!

Many times during our long history weather determined the way of our lives and in the times of climate changes nature still more and more assigns happening in the world. One of the most violent storms on Earth are tornadoes. Tornado, as it defines The National Weather Service, is violently rotating column of air, which is at the same time in contact with the ground. Every tornado rises from a thunderstorm, and then if also other basic conditions are right, then this thunderstorm changes into the tornado. In the US there is the most endangered area from Texas to Nebraska, but tornadoes can occur also in other parts of US & it all depends on conditions mentioned higher. In January 2008 an enormous number of tornadoes hit the area of Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, some of them were also confirmed in Wisconsin, Arkansas, Illinois and other states. Tornado which hit Appleton totally damaged house and killed one man, while his wife was injured. Three other people were almost killed by tornado while they were sitting in their truck which started spinning because of the strong winds of tornado. In other state & Indiana 2 children died when the car which was driving by their mother stalled on a flooded road. I mention only few examples what tornado can cause. In most cases this violent storms have the same results & loss of lives, damaged houses, cars, trees and roads, and what is worse they have the biggest impact on economy. Some of these impacts does not have to happen if people know what to do when the tornado hits their area. The first step is to find some safe shelter, and do it as soon as possible & best before the tornado comes. Another important thing are emergency supplies & always have them near. If tornado already hit our area and we do not have a time to run away we should go to our shelter which should be basement, storm cellar or some other lowest level of building. Then we should try to protect ourselves using anything what is near like furniture but also use our hands to protect head and neck. There is lot of things which a man in danger can do to protect himself & but the easiest way how to save a life is to know what to do. And in these days characterized by technology, Internet connection and daily news it should not be a problem.

CantellTV Presents: The end of movies distributed by TV channels?

Computer industry is huge. Who could imagine everyday life without all the electronic gadgets we are already used to? Maybe some daredevils, but by any means one would have a huge difficulty just to survive in the world full of high technology. Even more successful business attracting more and more followers is show business especially that one focused on movie making. Movies, though, don't provide us just with one-sided opportunity to produce them. The entire idea of cinematography is much wider. Nowadays, there is a strong tension and competition in the field of conveying of movies. In the past, people were absolutely satisfied with the fact that they own a TV set which enables them to watch variety of films and they didn't feel restricted by offer, time or range of them. Internet brought a huge revolution also in movie industry. Chance to see a wanted story or a favorite actress started to seem unlimited. Furthermore, you didn't need to pay enormous amount of money to get new releases just on time, internet connection allowed you to get it immediately and free, too. For those who prefer more sophisticated way of watching a movie debut, various companies began to saturate also this demand. In the present, in times when Apple Inc. is launching its enter to this industry through online distribution of movies, Netflix, another competitor in the branch, feels a need to do more to serve the customers. Until now, Netflix worked as following: customers paid for a plan that was based on renting particular number of DVDs, but they were restricted by the duration of the streaming service that was available for them. After the innovations of Apple were announced, Netflix changed its way of the business to assist customers. In the case of exceeding the subscribed access, they won't be charged extra, that means customers are able to stream as many programs, shows and film as they like. Changes and progress are crucial to keep a company on the highest position. And it is efficient as well that the competition is being fostered by newer and newer debuts also in this industrial branch. However, the shares of Netflix don't seem to increase in a capital way, Apple Inc. is just too substantial. And another fact is also major. Still, most people seem to prefer watching movies on TVs. That is also an issue that is constantly researched by both Apple and Netflix.

CantellTV Presents: Steve Jobs approaches movie rentals

Apple Inc. has unveiled the movie rentals and slim laptop at the conference on Tuesday. The analysts predicted that Steve Jobs, a Chief Executive of Apple Inc., will come with the movie rentals, even though Apple Inc. didn't offer them in the past. Steve Jobs also surprised by contacting all the major film studios as for instance Sony Pictures, or Universal. Universal film studio is the one that stopped offering all the TV shows at Apple's iTunes Store because of the argument on control and prices. Shaw Wu, an American Technology Research analyst said: "Studios have voiced their opinion that they don't want to work with Apple but they're still doing so. That's because there's going to be a paradigm shift in the online movie space, and Apple is in the best position to lead that." More than a million of people are already using iTunes to get their favorite songs or TV shows. The trend will just grow higher according to the Shaw Wu's forecast. Users can watch movies over the broadband Internet connection or they can download the movie and keep it in their computers for 30 days. But once they start watching the movie, they have to finish it in 24 hours period. All the movies will be on iTunes within 30 days after they are released in DVD form. The approximate start for watching movies is by the end of February. Customers can also use high definition versions with a little extra pay of $1.

CantellTV Presents: First step into the restoration of the human motoric functions

Wouldn't it be great if we had a robotic companion? Or imagine how great would be the restoration of the motoric functions of paralyzed patients. This is what the research in Japan is headed to. Japan scientists are working on a special research of a humanoid robot. The base for this robot lies in the active use of brain. The scientists take these signals from a monkey's brains, that are transmitted by the Internet from U.S. The research in the U.S. is led by Miguel Nicolelis at Duke University in North Carolina. The researchers tried to achieve that monkeys would walk on legs what was fortunately successful. They have recorded their brain activity while walking on their legs and according to this information they determined next moves. A success has been detected in the controlling of the humanoid robot. This fact means that doctors may be able to restore motoric functions of a human body in the future. The humanoid robot is nearly as high as a human being. With its height of 155 centimeters and its weight of 85 kilograms can look like one of us. The robot has been developed at the Carnegie Mellon University's Robotic Institute by JST and Christopher Atkeson and has about 51 percent of freedom of motion. The main part, which is the hardware, was developed in the Salt Lake City robotics company by Sarcos. The scientists are now doing the study of how to make the robotic moves more lifelike and real.

The idea of extremely law-cost laptops is coming

Can you imagine paying only $75 for a laptop? This incredibly law price is going to be real in two years! Techniques and technologies blossom out faster than ever and we are just witnesses of amazing masterpieces that make our lives easier and more fun. Of course we are paying for it and very often more than we want to just to get the newest version of the high-definition screen resolution. Prices are cutting down quickly also because new products are released almost daily and the computer competition is so rough. The idea of low-cost computers has its origin in the project "One laptop per child" that tried to provide children from Africa with low-cost and low-power laptops. The former chief technology officer Mery Lou Jepsen of the "One laptop per child" decided to establish her own computer company which happened this January. Name of new company is Pixar Qi and the idea is to produce low-cost and low-power computers for non-governmental organization so they can provide poor children with them as well as for wide public society. Mery Lou Jepsen is the creator of sunreadable screen which can enable users to switch between color and black-and-white resolution in case of working in direct sun what make users to see on the screen properly. She is also a co-inventor of the low-cost management system. The Pixar Qi promises to produce the sunreadable screens for cell phones, cameras, and televisions as well what can bring unedited profits in case of wider use of these products.

Gulf Air airlines ordered 16 planes of Boeing Co.'s new 787 Dreamliner type. Airlines were about to renew its entire fleet, and they are in the process of communication with Airbus for the A320 planes. Adnan Malek explains: "The total order could be more than 35. Adnan Malek, a spokesman for Gulf Air airlines said: "The deal is worth $4 billion at list prices but would rise to $6 billion if we include the options." Gulf Air will not finance the planes as an airlines. Some money will be donated by the government and the rest will cover money from financial institutions. "The aircraft will be partially financed by the government and partially through financial institutions. We are currently studying all the options," stated Adnan Malek. The airlines had some difficulties with financial loss of about $1 million dollars a day. In November they lowered their loses from $1 million to $600,000 dollars a day.
